Why can’t I stay on a diet?
This is a question often asked, as so many people experience starting a diet with all good intentions, only to break it days or weeks later – often reverting back to the same weight or even more than when they started the diet.
What is going wrong for these people? The answer has a few angles, but the main problem is that the diet they have tried is either a fad diet (and our bodies eventually let us know what they think of it!) or is not correctly balanced. Being incorrectly balanced usually means that the person ends up hungry and craves more food. Being incorrectly balanced also means that the body’s metabolism is not being maintained at, or increased to, an optimum level.
What percentage of mainstream diets are incorrectly balanced? The answer is almost all of them. You will know this if the diet is based purely on calorie-counting, or carbohydrate control or a fad mixture of restricted foodstuffs.
LikeMyDiet answers all these issues by preparing complete meal plans to suit an individual’s body size, age, weight and exercise level that are calorie controlled and carbohydrate and protein balanced. You might even think that a LikeMyDiet meal plan, at first glance, seems to contain quite a lot of food. By carefully following the portion sizes and weights shown in your plan, however, you will have the calorie and carbohydrate control whilst still enjoying sufficient food and sufficient protein to stop the hunger and cravings.
The fact that LikeMyDiet meal plans are based on a cross section of many healthy foods, normally readily obtained from your nearest store and probably, in many cases, already in your kitchen, means that you will be eating healthily, normally, and in a way that you can sustain forever. This is, after all, a lifestyle changing diet program, and that is why we offer Maintenance versions as well as weight loss versions of our meal plans.
